Deadpool And Wolverine Concept Artist Reveals Unused Deadpool Variants

Estimated read time 2 min read

Deadpool and Wolverine didn’t have any shortage of Deadpool variants for the title characters to fight. Most of the variants were directly based on their comic book counterparts, including Blake Lively’s Lady Deadpool. However, there were other variants that didn’t make it into the film, including a fusion of Deadpool and Wolverine.

Via Variety, Marvel concept artist David Masson shared his rendition of Wolverpool. Although the character may not have had a definitive name, as Masson suggests Wolverinepool and Deadverine as well. Our pick would have been Poolverine, since the costume has more elements from Deadpool’s costume than Wolverine’s outfit. The existence of this combined character also raises the question of which one is under the mask: A variant of Deadpool or a variant of Wolverine?

Masson also shared a look at Punkpool, another unused Deadpool Corps design that seems like it was clearly inspired by Spider-Punk.

Having a mohawk made out of spikes is a very Deadpool thing to do. But it’s difficult to see how this version of Deadpool is any different from the others besides an overwhelming preference for spikes.

Masson also teased a few other Deadpool variants, including Grandma Deadpool and Luchador Deadpool.

For now, Masson hasn’t added any further Deadpool variants. But given the popularity of this film, it seems unlikely that we’ve seen the last of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool or his variants.

Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in theaters.
