Dairy Queen Just Brought Back the Treat Fans Call Their ‘Absolute Favorite’

Dairy Queen is known for its candy-filled Blizzards, layered ice cream cakes, and signature dipped cones. Beyond desserts, the chain also offers a drink menu that includes a variety of sippable slushes, shakes, and cold coffee drinks that are worth a special trip, even on the coldest of days. 

Recently, the Minnesota-based fast food chain launched its holiday menu which includes the beloved candy cane-topped Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard. Along with the returning menu item comes a seasonal drink that just happens to be Jimmy Fallon’s favorite frozen holiday treat and one of ours, too.

Dairy Queen’s Frozen Hot Chocolate Is Back

Dairy Queen’s Frozen Hot Chocolate recently returned to menus and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. Frozen hot chocolate is a wintertime favorite and holds an extra special place in our memories after its appearance in the 2001 rom-com “Serendipity”. In one of the most important scenes in the movie, stars John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale go to Serendipity3 in New York City and indulge in the restaurant’s iconic dessert, Frrrozen Hot Chocolate.

Thanks to DQ, those of us who live outside the NYC area can still enjoy frozen hot chocolate, albeit in a slightly different form. Dairy Queen’s Frozen Hot Chocolate features the chain’s signature Misty Slush, which contains water and sweetener, giving the treat a smooth base. Next, velvety fudge and vanilla soft serve are blended in to give the drink an ultra-creamy hot chocolate flavor that guests love. Each Frozen Hot Chocolate is then topped with a generous serving of whipped cream and finished with a chocolate drizzle. 

In a recent TikTok video, one user who works at Dairy Queen shared that the Frozen Hot Chocolate has been a favorite of theirs for years before giving viewers the ultimate hack. “If you add coffee then it becomes a mocha Moolatte. Which you can also get as caramel or vanilla,” says the Tiktoker before comparing it to other frozen fast food coffees. “But [it’s] of course better because they’re made with Dairy Queen soft serve,” adds the Michigan-based Dairy Queen manager. 

“This is my very favorite DQ treat,” one commenter replied. Another agreed, calling it their “absolute favorite thing at DQ.”

And there’s good news for fans who wait all year for the treat to return to menus. You’ll be happy to know it’s likely that your local DQ can serve up the frozen hot chocolate year-round, not just during the holiday season. So, next time you’re running errands, consider grabbing a frozen hot chocolate as your midday pick-me-up.
