Cybertruck Brutally Mocked for Making Seattle Look Like a Low-Budget Post-Apocalyptic Movie Set

When Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the Cybertruck, he said he wanted the future to “look like the future.” Well, he got his wish in some respects. The Cybertruck has made America’s major cities look like a sci-fi movie where the producers didn’t have the budget to make their futuristic cars look good. And now we seem to have fast-forwarded to the post-apocalyptic version of our stupidly low-rent tomorrow.

There’s been a busted Cybertruck sitting on a busy Seattle street for a few days now, according to reports on social media. And it’s making our version of the future here in 2024 look pretty garbage.

The Reddit community r/Cyberstuck has photos of the vehicle as it sits there quite pathetically. And while we don’t know what caused the vehicle to break down and be abandoned like that, we’re guessing it has something to do with that wheel that appears to be falling off. We imagine it’s hard to drive around when your wheel is doing that.

The online community at Reddit includes claims from people who say they’ve seen the vehicle first-hand.

“I went by there this evening on my way to dinner,” one Reddit user said. “The owner was outside and was not happy we were there. He said a kid hit his CT a few weeks ago and was still trying to figure out the insurance to get it fixed. He said people had been harassing him and his wife the past few days and he didn’t understand why. We told him his truck was all over Reddit and he got even madder. We left pretty quickly.”

Gizmodo is unable to verify the accuracy of the claims on Reddit. But it all seems pretty damn funny to us. Especially with people making so many jokes. One user wrote, “I’m honestly surprised no one has jacked it up to take the wheels.” And another responded, “Even crackheads know it’s worthless.” In fairness to Cybertruck owners, the vehicle isn’t worthless. There are probably lots of down-on-their-luck directors who would buy it used as a cheap prop for their shitty sci-fi movie.

It’s not clear if the vehicle has been removed yet. The Reddit post includes a photo of a warning dated the morning of September 6. The warning says it will be towed by September 9 but there haven’t been any updates online from anyone in the area about whether that’s happened yet. But we’ll let you know if we learn anything more.
