Followers of the Cult of the Lamb can now preorder Oni Press’ official graphic novel based on Massive Monster’s 2022 breakout hit. Lamb devotees may have already known this, but the upcoming trade paperback was made possible by a successful Kickstarter campaign that generated $684,000. Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse collects the ongoing four-issue comics arc that debuted earlier this year. You can preorder Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse for $18 (was $20) ahead of its December 3 release.
$18 (was $20)
Cult of the Lamb: The First Verse is illustrated by Eisner Award–nominated artist Troy Little, colored by Nick Filardi, and written by Alex Paknadel. The cover art, which matches the first issue of the comics, was created by Carles Dalmau.
Just like the game, the comic books have a delightfully macabre sense of humor and terrific art to match a story that touches upon several ideas seen in the source material.
Here’s the official description from Oni Press:
“In a land pervaded by cruelty and evil, the most innocent among us–young Lamb–was selected to become a noble sacrifice. Their death would be the magical rite that would forever seal the darkest of the Old Gods out of our realm and usher in a new age of bounty. So Lamb died, but then they made a deal of their own. At the crossroads of eternity, Lamb was met by the imprisoned deity known as the One Who Waits, who revealed the falsehoods and distortions of the false prophets who rule the world and the Old Faith. And so, Lamb was given a choice: Enter oblivion as intended, or return to the land of living with unholy powers and deliver a new cult unto the Earth.”
If you’re not in the mood to wait, you can buy the comics individually on Kindle right now. The first three issues are available now with list prices of $5 each. Amazon has a limited-time deal on the first issue that drops the price to $3.74, so you could check it out before preordering the collected graphic novel.
The fourth and final issue in the story will be out on September 25. Just like the game, the comic books have a delightfully macabre sense of humor and terrific art to match a story that touches upon several ideas seen in the source material.
Cult of the Lamb Physical Edition
If you haven’t picked up a physical edition of Cult of the Lamb, Amazon and Best Buy are offering discounts on the Nintendo Switch and PS5 versions. Cult of the Lamb still receives regular updates and new content. In August, the free Unholy Alliance update added local co-op, new quests, and a bunch more. The Pilgrim Peril paid DLC ($7) added an interactive story, new Follower forms, and more last month, too.
