Colin Farrell’s Go-To Drink While Filming ‘The Penguin’

The 82nd annual Golden Globes were this weekend, and Colin Farrell took home the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series for his role as the title character in The Penguin. After thanking his fellow nominees, colleagues and the show’s makeup and prosthetic team in his acceptance speech, the actor gave a deserving shoutout to a specific crew member whose role isn’t typically recognized.

“Carolina [from craft services], on those cold winter nights in New York where I was the only one overheating, she’d be there with a coconut water every half an hour,” Farrell says. “Carolina, God bless you, she kept the whole crew going…”

First, we love that the star acknowledged the efforts of craft services during his speech. Craft services (sometimes referred to as “crafty”) provides snacks and other refreshments and aid to the cast and crew on the set of productions. So to say they’re an essential element to the crew is an understatement.

And we couldn’t help but notice that Farrell’s drink of choice while filming the award-winning show is clearly coconut water. It’s a great choice: coconut water is full of energy-boosting electrolytes that will keep you hydrated throughout the day. Plus, thanks to its high potassium content, coconut water may help lower blood pressure and support bone health. It’s a healthy option for those looking to add more electrolytes into their routines, especially if you have busy work schedules like Farrell.

Because of its hydrating elements, it’s easy to add coconut water into your smoothies for a refreshing sip. That’s why we love recipes that include it, likely our highly-rated Tropical Gut-Healthy Smoothie or our Pineapple-Grapefruit Detox Smoothie. They’re great for a fiber-boosted morning, and they take less than 10 minutes to whip up in a blender.

Now we’re curious what The Penguin star’s go-to lunches and snacks are on set; we know Reese Witherspoon’s favorite “crafty snack” is an apple with peanut butter and Vanna White’s is assorted nuts and dark chocolate, so now it’s time to learn Farrell’s pick. Someone tell the Golden Globe winner to give us a call, please!
