Following the recent reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, developer Treyarch has confirmed in an interview with VentureBeat that all sniper rifles will have the potential for a one-shot kill in multiplayer.
According to the interview, Treyarch’s associate design director Matt Scronce reveals that all of the sniper rifles in Black Ops 6 are a one-shot kill from the torso and up. However, the developer says players can still expect all of the snipers to have their own feel and characteristics in terms of fire rate and recoil.
In the past few years of Call of Duty, multiplayer has seen a variety of snipers with different levels of power. Some have a high fire rate, but don’t offer the same potential for a one-shot kill, instead taking 2-3 shots to eliminate an opponent.
While multiplayer largely centers around modes where you can respawn, a death in a battle royale game is a more impactful thing, making one-hit-kill weapons a bigger deal. Of course, the developer only spoke on how the guns will perform in multiplayer, leaving the Warzone discussion for a later date. Scronce says, “We’re all very aware of what we’re doing. There’s a goal of consistency, but there’s also a goal of doing what’s right for each experience.”
We’ll likely get to see Black Ops 6’s sniper rifles in action during Call of Duty Next on August 28, as the event will feature content creators getting hands-on with multiplayer during the livestream.
