One week of NFL playoff football has already come and gone, but we still have a few sweet weeks of games left before the big one: the Super Bowl. With the upcoming championship on the horizon, our favorite brands are gearing up for the biggest night in snacking—and commercials.
As one of the NFL’s biggest sponsors, PepsiCo and its brands have already announced a few great new products—like Doritos Golden Sriracha, Lay’s All Dressed, and Pepsi Wild Cherries & Cream. And it’s not stopping there.
Cheetos is making our Big Game grocery list one item longer by bringing back a fan-favorite flavor we haven’t seen in 20 years. The Super Bowl is the perfect time for the snack’s return as it combines two must-have party items: crunchy Cheetos and cheesy pizza.
Cheetos Brings Back Cheese Pizza Flavor
On Jan. 13, Cheetos is bringing back its Cheetos Puffs Cheese Pizza flavor. The cheese pizza-flavored puffed Cheetos were last seen in 2005, but the flavor concept has remained the same. The snack has all the elements of a classic cheese pizza—including cheese, tomato, and Italian seasoning—in each airy, crunchy bite.
With the new launch, you can have a whole spread of Cheetos that taste like your favorite Super Bowl appetizers—including Buffalo wings, cheesy jalapeño poppers, and now pizza.
Cheetos’ launch is perfectly timed with the end of football season and National Pizza Day, which happens to fall on Super Bowl Sunday this year. But, the best part is, the Cheetos Puffs Cheese Pizza flavor won’t disappear after the end of the Big Game or the national holiday.
After years of fans calling for its return, this time around, the Cheetos Puffs Cheese Pizza snacks are here to stay. Cheetos is adding the pizza flavor to its permanent lineup—making it the first Cheetos Puffs flavor to join the line in more than a decade.
The Cheetos Puffs Cheese Pizza flavor is rolling out to stores nationwide now and will also be sold on Snacks.com. And, with the rollout, Cheetos has teased that the pizza-themed mischief isn’t over yet.
We’re not sure if that means chef Chester Cheetah will be slinging ‘zas in a new Super Bowl ad or if more pizza-flavored Cheetos products are on their way—like in Flamin’ Hot or mac and cheese varieties. However, you can follow Cheetos’ social media pages to stay up to date on the orange dust-covered cheetah.
That just means you’ll have to leave one hand clean to check up on Chester while the other is coated in the orange, cheese pizza-flavored dust.
