Cheese Is Being Recalled Due to Listeria Risk

Estimated read time 2 min read

There’s an active recall on Cheddar cheese sold in five U.S. states, according to the Food and Drug Administration. This is due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Two Wicklow Gold branded cheese products are impacted by this recall: Nettle & Chive Cheddar Style Cheese and Tomato & Herb Cheddar Style Cheese with UPCs 797776045730 and 797776045778, respectively. The 5.2-ounce packages both contain a printed sell-by date of “6/2/2025” and were sold at retail locations in the following states: Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Ohio.

While there are no confirmed illnesses connected to this recall, Listeria infection (listeriosis) can be a serious sickness for people who are age 65 or older, immunocompromised or pregnant, and for young children. Common symptoms of listeriosis can include nausea, vomiting, severe headaches, high fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea. If you are showing signs of infection after consuming the recalled cheese, talk to your health care provider as soon as possible.

If you have one of the recalled products on hand, dispose of it immediately or return it to your place of purchase for a refund. If you have questions about this cheese recall, contact Abbey Specialty Foods at 862-210-8150, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, or email info@abbeyspecialty.com.
