Canned Tuna Is Being Recalled Across Canada

Estimated read time 1 min read

There’s an active recall on canned tuna sold in stores across Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). This is due to an undeclared allergen in the product.

The Century brand’s Light Tuna Flakes in Hot & Spicy Sauce and Flaked Light Tuna Hot & Spicy Style is being recalled. The affected tuna was sold in 180-gram cans nationwide and contains a UPC of “8 06840 00009 1” or “7 74310 18460 5.”

Check your pantry for this product. If you have the recalled canned tuna on hand and are allergic or sensitive to gluten, the CFIA recommends disposing of it as soon as possible or returning to its place of purchase. While there are no reported reactions connected to this recall, those with a wheat or gluten allergy like celiac disease may experience symptoms of anaphylaxis, including hives, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea, tightness of the throat or cardiac arrest. Call 911 immediately if you are showing signs of an allergic reaction.

For questions about this recall, call the CFIA’s toll-free number at 1-800-442-2342 or email information@inspection.gc.ca.
