In light of recent events, it appears Marvel has quietly released a revised edition of its Captain America: Brave New World trailer removing a scene showing Isaiah Bradley’s attempt on President “Thunderbolt” Ross’s life. Take a look:

Now, contrast it with the original trailer, here. We’ve cued it up to the appropriate moment:
As you can see, this updated version now shows Bradley attacking everyone who is not the president during his rampage in the White House. Notably, Marvel’s U.S. accounts have yet to either remove the original trailer or share this newly edited take, leaving the remix solely for the benefit of international audiences. Again, an interesting choice.
As we all know, sometimes something will happen in the news and the entertainment world has to pivot with programming that feels too eerily reflective of current events. It’s even already happened with this particular news story, as fans of The Boys can attest.
At the end of the day, though, Captain America is a superhero owned by Marvel and Disney, companies whose interests are mostly in maintaining brand loyalty, not rocking the boat with up-to-the-minute discourse. Regarding the edit, io9 has reached out to Disney for comment or clarification but did not hear back as of publication. We’ll update this post if or when we hear back.
Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters February 14, 2025.
