Black Ops 6 Brings Back Last Stand, But Not How You’d Expect

Estimated read time 2 min read

The Last Stand perk hasn’t been seen in a Call of Duty game since 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII, but it’s coming back–in a way at least–for Black Ops 6.

Activision has announced all the field upgrades for Black Ops 6 at launch, and among them is the Morphine Injector. Unlocked at level 44, this field upgrade allows players, for a short period of time, to enter a “Last Stand state.” During this time, players hit with fatal damage can be revived by teammates or by getting a kill to self-revive.

Field upgrades in Call of Duty are special types of equipment that players earn throughout matches by filling a meter based on their performance that can be deployed for offensive or defensive purposes.

The Last Stand perk debuted in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and was featured in numerous ensuing games, running up until Call of Duty: WWII.

Some of the other field upgrades in Black Ops 6 include War Cry (increases allies’ movement speed and health regeneration for a period of time), Tactical Insertion (allows you to choose your next spawn point), Acoustic Amp (increases the sound of enemy footsteps), and Neurogas (emits a neurotoxic gas cloud causing enemies to hallucinate), among many others.
