It helpfully covers plenty of basics (particularly the sides chapter with recipes for chips, roast potatoes etc.) as well as simple main meals that you may already cook, but not be sure how to adapt to an air fryer. Author Beverley Jarvis says her paperback book is the one she wishes she had when she bought her first air fryer. Using her experience from that time, she starts right at the basics, from a slice of toast, a few rashers of bacon, or a dish of basmati through to five spice chicken with onions and peppers or Adam’s South African Biltong as she gained confidence. Her recipes are clear and incisive, and she generously offers tips along the way. Our favourite was the foil sling for lifting handleless dishes from the air fryer.

Recipes also often blend using the air fryer alongside other kitchen tools, such as a spiced tomato and pepper soup which uses the air fryer to roast the veg before removing and blending. This shows how the air fryer can fit into your everyday cooking and doesn’t always have to takeover the entire recipe.
