Beef Jerky Is Being Recalled in 5 States

There’s an active recall linked to ready-to-eat beef jerky products sold in five states, according to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. This is because the products were produced without the benefit of federal inspection.

The Hickory Hollow Beef Jerky affected by this recall was sold via retail in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma and through internet sales. Approximately 6,229 pounds of product were incorrectly stamped with a USDA mark of inspection without the required inspection.

The flavors of Hickory Hollow branded beef jerky impacted include 2.8-ounce bags of Honey Mustard Bacon Jerky as well as 3.25-ounce bags of the following: Jamaican Jerked, Original, Hot Shot, Peppered, Jalapeno Original, Sweet Heat BBQ, Macho Nacho, Honey Original and Teriyaki. These products have a printed establishment number of “EST. NO. 34550” on the packaging and were sold from January 19, 2024 through August 21. 

While no illnesses are connected to this recall, if you are experiencing any reaction after eating one of the above products, contact your health care provider immediately. The FSIS is urging consumers to throw away or return any recalled beef jerky to its place of purchase.
