Chef Andrew Zimmern just joined the growing fanbase of a returning McDonald’s breakfast favorite. The steak, egg & cheese bagel—discontinued in 2020—quietly made its way back to select McDonald’s locations in early September.

Known for reviving discontinued menu items, McDonald’s has brought back the hearty breakfast sandwich to much excitement. The Food Network personality discovered it while navigating a busy airport early one morning. “I saw a giant sign that said the bagel steak, egg and cheese is back. So I thought, let’s give it a try,” Zimmern explained in an Instagram video.

To his surprise, the host of “Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations“ declared it “probably the best breakfast sandwich available at the airport.” Zimmern praised its “beefy” flavor, seasoning, warmth, and structural integrity, adding, “It eats well, it holds together.”

The sandwich even earned a spot as Zimmern’s indulgence of the week, as he admitted he was “stunned” by its flavor.
