With the holidays near, baking season has officially begun. Make-Ahead Cinnamon Rolls, Pumpkin Spice Latte Cookies and Gingerbread Pine Cones are all on our list to make before the year ends.
But all of these recipes require a stand mixer, and if you don’t already have one in your kitchen, popular products like KitchenAid’s varieties sell for upwards of $300. And with gift giving coming up, it may be hard to justify making that big purchase.
Luckily, Aldi just relaunched their comparable appliance, and it’s just a fraction of the price. The Aldi Ambiano Classic Stand Mixer is loved by fans for a reason.
First, the 5.3-quart stand mixer is a similar size to the popular KitchenAid stand mixers, which are usually 4.5- or 5-quart designs. Like the KitchenAid mixer, the Aldi stand mixer comes with a flat beater, stainless steel whisk and dough hook attachment. These attachments will make baking a breeze and are pretty much identical to its competitor. The Aldi mixer also has a mixing bowl with a handle, making it easy to move the bowl before and after use. And like KitchenAid, this is a tilt-head stand mixer, so scraping down sides will be a breeze.
Something that Aldi’s stand mixer features that the typical KitchenAid does not is the splash guard, which will reduce mess on yourself and in the kitchen, minimizing clean up. There’s also a pulse option on this mixer, which the comparable KitchenAid mixer does not have.
There are a couple of things that Aldi’s stand mixer lacks that KitchenAid can provide. The Aldi stand mixer has 8 speed options whereas KitchenAid’s has 10. Plus, Aldi’s version only comes in two colors—blue and gray—while KitchenAid has an array of gorgeous colors to choose from.
But these two aspects are worth overlooking, according to customers—especially because of its $49.99 price tag. In a Reddit thread, one Aldi customer wrote that they used the Aldi stand mixer to whip butter, and it worked.
“I say if you’ve always wanted a stand mixer but could never afford one (me) then this could be a great starter option,” the Reddit user wrote in the thread.
Another Aldi loyal wrote that while this stand mixer doesn’t look exactly like KitchenAid’s, it’s worth the buy, saying that “my mom has the fancy schmancy kitchenaid and I would rather use my Aldi one.”
If you’re in need of a new stand mixer, Aldi’s has a solid choice that’s budget-friendly when compared to KitchenAid’s famous mixer. Head over to Aldi and snag one for yourself—and be sure to try some of our favorite dessert recipes while giving it a test.
