John Carpenter’s influential action flick, Escape From New York, is one of the most important movies of the 1980s. The movie inspired not just future filmmakers, but also video games like Metal Gear and the seminal Cyberpunk novel Neuromancer. Soon, the iconic film is getting a slick new Steelbook edition featuring all-new cover art, and you can preorder it on Amazon right now for $45.
$45 – $35
The new edition adds a great-looking Steelbook case to the already impressive Escape from New York Collector’s Edition 4K Blu-ray from 2022. The 4K Steelbook edition includes a host of commentary tracks, including one from Carpenter and Russell, as well as a bunch of other behind-the-scenes looks into the creation of the movie and its special effects. There are also deleted scenes and photo galleries–basically everything you could ever want to see about Escape from New York.
The new Escape from New York 4K Steelbook edition releases on November 5. Preorders are available at Amazon for $45, while Gruv is offering it for $35–so it’s likely Amazon will drop its price to match before release. Amazon also offers a price-match guarantee on preorders. If the price does change after you place your preorder, Amazon will only charge you the lower amount, and you’re not charged until your order ships.
If the new 4K Steelbook edition is too pricey, you can go with the cheaper option and get the original Escape from New York Collector’s Edition from Amazon, which includes almost all the same stuff but at the lower price point of $26.
