Apple AirPods 4: everything we know so far and what we want to see

Estimated read time 9 min read

AirPods 4 feel due. In fact, they feel overdue. It’s been well over two years since the Apple AirPods 3 hit shelves, yet there’s still no official word from Apple on when we might expect to see their successors – although we do have a huge Apple event confirmed; the September 9 “It’s Glowtime” shindig, kicking off at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm BST. (The name? It’s likely a reference to the new glowing, squish-your-phone Siri experience you’ll get with phones that support Apple Intelligence. So, now you know.)

Back to the ice-white earbuds you came here for, and while the AirPods Pro 2 still rank highly in our list of the best earbuds, (we’re casually hoping for the AirPods Pro 3 too though, on September 9) the AirPods 3 have had a tougher time. And now, they face much stiffer competition than they did when they launched in October 2021.
