The first clip from the highly anticipated Joker: Folie a Deux has arrived, showing Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley having a moment while inside what appears to be Arkham Asylum.

Harley says to Joker, “When I first saw Joker, when I saw you on Murray Franklin, the whole time I was watching, I kept thinking, ‘I hope this guy blows his brains out.’ And then you did. And for once in my life, I didn’t feel so alone anymore.”

She’s referring to the pivotal sequence in the original Joker movie where Arthur Fleck murders Franklin (Robert De Niro) on a live TV broadcast of Franklin’s TV show. In Joker: Folie a Deux, Joker is seemingly on trial for that murder.

At the end of the clip, Harley begins to sing “Get Happy” to Joker, and the two join in together just as the lyrics reach the line, “Get ready for the judgement day.” Here’s the clip:

Joker: Folie a Deux releases on October 4 with great expectations behind it. After all, the first movie earned more than $1 billion worldwide and was the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time until Deadpool & Wolverine came around.

The Joker sequel has a bigger budget than the original film, which was produced for a relatively modest $60 million. Director Todd Phillips says people questioning the bigger budget for the sequel are asking the wrong questions.

“I read these stories [about Joker: Folie a Deux’s reported budget], and it seems like they’re on the side of the multinational corporations,” Phillips told Variety. “They’re like, ‘Why does it cost so much?’ They sound like studio executives. Shouldn’t people be happy that we got this money out of them, and we used it to go hire a bunch of crew people who can then feed their families?”

Phillips also pushed back against people who criticized the violence in the original Joker movie. In that film, six people are killed, which pales in comparison to many other big action movies, he said.

“In most movies, they’re pulling out 42 different guns and killing hundreds of people,” he said. “But what I was doing felt too real. And you go, ‘Isn’t that the point? Isn’t it a good thing to show the real-world implications of what a gun does?'”

In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, Joker: Folie a Deux stars Zazie Beetz, Ken Leung, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Steve Coogan.
