Mountain Dew isn’t just here to celebrate the mountains. It’s here to completely take over the time zone.
In late August, Mountain Dew announced its plan to take “Do the Dew a step further” by announcing both its new brand character, “the Mountain Dude” and the fact that it’s staking its claim to Mountain Time as the “official, unofficial time zone of Mountain Dew.” And it’s doing so not only because it’s a similar name, but also because it wants to capitalize on the fact that people who live in the Mountain Time Zone are statistically 6% more cheerful than the average American, according to data from StatSocial.
“With the great outdoors at the core of everything we do, we want to encourage everyone to embrace the Mountain Time mindset by giving away free Mountain Dew to anyone who crosses into the Mountain Time Zone,” JP Bittencourt, the vice president of marketing at Mountain Dew, shared in a statement. “Additionally, we want to reward those who take the leap and move to the happiest time zone in the country with their friends by paying for their move.”
From now through December 31, 2024, anyone who crosses into Mountain Time – via plane, train, automobile, or even on foot — can snag a free Mountain Dew. But, before you head through the time zone, make sure to register at WelcometoMTNTime.com. Then, when you cross the time zone, you can redeem your free Mountain Dew by revisiting the website to prove you’re in the right geolocation.
But this isn’t the only thing Mountain Dew is doing to assist those who are moving to the time zone. The brand also announced its “Mountain Dew Hauls,” which will reimburse five people’s moving fees who are relocating to the Mountain Time Zone.
“Not only will the brand cover the cost of the move (up to $10,000), but winners will receive free Dew for a year and a Mountain Dew Outdoor Gear welcome package so they can live life to the fullest in the Mountain Time Zone,” the brand added.
To enter to win a haul, you just need to create a TikTok video sharing why you are moving/looking to move to the Mountain Time Zone, and how you plan to enjoy the outdoors with your friends and loved ones once you get there. All entries must include both hashtags #MountainDewHauls and #contest. See all the fine print here.
