Bull Nakano won professional wrestling championships in three different countries, becoming a wrestling icon and breaking the mold for women wrestlers. This April, the former All Japan Pro Wrestling and former WWE Women’s Champion will take her place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
With her skyscraper hair and face paint, Nakano found herself as one of the biggest stars in Japan. She won the AJW championship and WWWA title during that time, with huge matches against–and tagging with–the likes of future Japanese wrestling legends Dump Matsumoto, Kyoko Inoue, Akira Hokuto, and, of course, Aja Kong.
An unbelievable talent with an unforgettable look, and a mean streak a mile long.

In the early 90s, Nakano traveled to Mexico and won the CMLL World Women’s Championship, adding another trophy to her already impressive resume. Nakano would go on to beat Alundra Blayze for the then-WWF Women’s Championship at the Tokyo Dome in 1994, becoming the first recognized Japanese star to win the title.
“My wish has come true and I have decided to receive the award in 2024,” Nakano posted on her Instagram. “I am honored to be the first Japanese female wrestler to do so. Thank you.”
Nakano joins Paul Heyman in this year’s class of inductees. The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Friday, April 5.
