The Sopranos is one of those rare TV shows that have stood the test of time, and with its 25th anniversary around the corner, you can go behind the scenes of that landmark HBO series with a new book, The Sopranos: The Complete Visual History. Out on October 15 and currently priced at $60, the deluxe hardcover book is available for preorder at Amazon.
$60.49 (was $65)
The Sopranos: The Complete Visual History features 300 pages of photographs, archival materials, and exclusive one-on-one interviews with the show’s creator, David Chase, and other members of the cast and crew, including Edie Falco, Lorraine Bracco, Steven Schirripa, and many more.
If you never watched it, The Sopranos revolves Tony Soprano, portrayed by the late James Gandolfini, and his daily struggles. Between his job in waste management, alleged criminal activity, family drama, the mother from hell, and a power-hungry uncle looking for the right opportunity to stick a knife in his back, it’s no wonder that he’s seeking therapy to deal with his panic attacks. The Sopranos won numerous awards during its six-season run from 1999 to 2007 thanks to the high production quality and ensemble cast.
The Sopranos books
There have been a few other Sopranos books written over the years, and if you’re looking to expand your library, you can check out the Definitive Oral History of The Sopranos: Woke Up This Morning. This book includes exclusive interviews with the cast, crew, producers, writers, directors and creators, spilling the beans untold stories from behind the scenes and on the set. There’s also The Sopranos Sessions written by New York Times bestselling authors Matt Zoller Seitz and Alan Sepinwall, which was released in time for the show’s 20th anniversary. This one is a collection of recaps, conversations, and critical essays covering every episode of the show, so if you’re a fan of long-form essays, this book will keep you up with its exploration of the show’s artistry and legacy.
For something more lighthearted, you can even dive into the culinary side of The Sopranos with various cookbooks. Our two recommendations here would be the The Sopranos Family Cookbook so that you can cook like an Italian mama and eat like a wiseguy, and for libations, The Sopranos Cocktail Book is also out on October 25 and will teach you how to craft a killer cocktail.
