What better way to show off your love of sweet treats than with a fresh pair of kicks?
On Thursday, Converse released its latest food-focused collaboration, this time with New York-based pastry chef Christina Tosi, owner of Milk Bar.
The new collab, part of the shoe brand’s “Converse by You” experience, offers the perfect subtle nod to Tosi’s beloved brand. The sneakers on offer include a black pair of High Top Converse, aka the Chuck Taylor All Stars, in black with the “Milk” logo along the base. There’s also a white version of the same shoe but with some adorable, emoji-style cookies, cakes, and sweets printed on the canvas. Then, there’s the Chuck Taylor All Stars in white with a rainbow sprinkle print and “Milk” in a soft, baby pink hue.
The shoes are also dropping just in time for Milk Bar’s “Sweet 16” year, which honors the first Milk Bar bakery opening in 2008 as part of David Chang’s Momofuku in New York City’s East Village. This collaboration is also particularly meaningful for Tosi, as she has worn red Converse Chuck Taylor high tops as part of her personal work uniform since the day she started.
“I have been wearing High Top Chucks since I was a teenager. They are the forever footwear staple as I find my way, embracing creativity and individuality in my life and kitchen,” Tosi shared with Food & Wine. “Teaming up with Converse to create a collection of high tops for anyone and everyone to design — mixing and matching colors, textures, and spirit is a true pinch-me moment. My thirteen-year-old self is very humbled, and I am very excited to see what folks bring to life, adults and kids alike.”
Converse By You x Milk Bar
This isn’t the only extremely dope collaboration from Converse in recent months. In April, it also released its limited-edition line with Topo Chico, which it described as a “nod to Topo Chico’s Mexican heritage alongside colorful visuals from the brand’s iconic glass bottle,” created alongside Mexican American street artist, Victor “MARKA27” Quinonez. The line included the Fast Break, a Chuck Taylor Low Top, and a High Top.
Milk Bar’s collaboration with Converse begins at $65 for kids’ sizes and $95 for adult sizes. It’s available now at converse.com, but only while supplies last.
