Season 3 of Chucky, Peacock’s TV adaptation of the long-running possessed doll slasher movie series, hits Blu-ray on August 13. Amazon has the Blu-ray release of the Chucky Season 3 available for preorder, and if you order it now, you’ll get it at a bit of a discount, with 12% shaved off the price.
The Blu-ray release will run you $26, down from the list price of $30, and includes all eight episodes of Season 3, alongside deleted scenes. It’s also eligible for Amazon Prime and for the retailer’s preorder price matching, which means that if the price drops between now and the Blu-ray’s release, you’ll pay the lower cost. Season 3 is coming to Blu-ray in August, but the entire show is currently available for streaming with a Peacock subscription.
The Chucky franchise has been running for a long time, mostly as feature films that kicked off way back in 1988 with the release of Child’s Play. After seven films and an unloved reboot, Peacock released the Chucky TV series that continues to tell the story of the evil doll, which houses the spirit of a serial killer who can’t get enough murdering, with new characters.
While there are new folks in the mix, the show is a direct continuation of the story told in the movies and picks up all the lore of the films, with some cool new twists. It’s gory, campy, and a lot of fun, with Brad Dourif continuing his decades-long turn as the voice of Chucky, and a bunch of characters from the entire film series turning up along the way, with all the original actors reprising their roles. Jennifer Tilly’s turn as an evil version of herself is particularly unhinged. Also, Devon Sawa shows up each season in Chucky, but always playing a different character. It’s great.
If you’re not already a fan of the Chucky TV series and you want to get into it, Amazon can help you get caught up. Chucky Season 1 and Chucky Season 2 are both available on Blu-ray from the retailer, as are all the movies in a big box set.
You can also nab some books on the subject of Chucky. There’s Reign of Chucky: The True Hollywood Story of a Not So Good Guy, which goes way behind-the-scenes of all the Chucky movies and how creator, writer, and director Don Mancini originally conceived of him and brought him to life. There’s also Chucky: The Official Coloring Book, which is available for preorder and goes on sale in July.
Finally, for the truly obsessive Chucky fan, Amazon has a ton of merchandise, ranging from your own life-sized slashed-up Good Guy doll to a Poptaters version of the pint-sized killer.
