Roaming the countryside in Pacific Drive can be a harrowing experience. Apart from anomalies, you also have to contend with a day-night cycle, and the nights are extremely dark. Here’s our guide on how to make Headlights, Flashlights, and Flares in Pacific Drive.
How to get Headlights, Flashlights, and Flares in Pacific Drive
You can craft Headlights, Flashlights, and Flares by unlocking their respective blueprints in the Fabrication Station. You’ll find these under the Lights category/tab. You do need to have certain prerequisites first before you can obtain these blueprints.
Road Flares and Relightable Flares
Road Flares in Pacific Drive are the most basic form of illumination. You can find these in various containers as you explore junctions in the game world. When equipped/slotted in an action key, hold down the left mouse button to activate one. The Road Flare will give off a bright red light, though it diminishes and putters out after a minute or so. Be aware that a flare also attracts the attention of anomalies that move, such as Abductors. So you can use them to distract anomalies, or at least be aware that using one for your own vision may bring unwanted guests.
We also suggest unlocking the Relightable Flare via the Fabrication Station:
- The blueprint requires the Craft Mat, Scanning Antenna (installed on the roof of your hub), 1x Fabric, and 0.4 Stable Energy.
- Crafting one, meanwhile, requires 2x Scrap Metal, 1x 9v Battery, 1x Copper Wire, and 2x Road Flares.
Crafting Crude Headlights
You’re going to need Crude Headlights in Pacific Drive. Here’s a quick summary:
- This should get unlocked early on, and crafting one requires 2x Plastic, 1x Duct Tape, 1x Copper Wire, and 6x Road Flares.
- Crude Headlights, along with your Front Bumper, get easily damaged in head-on collisions with obstacles. As such, it’s imperative that you drive safely and avoid obstacles.
- If any type of Headlight gets damaged, you’re likely to need Repair Putty. In some cases, a Light Replacement Kit or Electrician’s Kit is also required due to the nature of the damage.
- If a type of Headlight is completely destroyed, you’ll need to craft another one. Alternatively, you can keep your finger’s crossed that the Friendly Dumpster in your hub has a replacement.
For the Repair Putty and other items, we encourage you to take a look at our car repair guide. It has all the information you need to keep your vehicle in tip-top condition.
More illumination: Headlights, Flare Guns, and Flashlights
Apart from the above, there are other sources of illumination that you can craft via the aforementioned Fabrication Station. These include:
- Headlights – Has double the HP compared to Crude Headlights; requires the Basic Workbench, Bulb (researched), 1x Fabric, and 0.5 Stable Energy.
- Flare Gun – Lets you shoot out a Road Flare at a distance; requires the Basic Workbench, 1x Fabric, and 0.5 Stable Energy.
- Crude Flashlight – A more durable and longer-lasting light source compared to Road Flares; requires the Basic Workbench, Bulb (researched), 1x Fabric, and 0.4 Unstable Energy.
- Various types of lights that can be attached to your car, such as Side Floodlights and Roof Floodlights.
These are the ways you can get Headlights, Flashlights, and Flares in Pacific Drive. Lastly, bear in mind that keeping Headlights/Floodlights on gradually drains your car’s battery. As such, it’s important to turn down the lights in case you have to leave your car to explore on foot.
