Donate Food to Wildfire Victims from Your Couch

As the California wildfires continue to affect the Los Angeles area, you may be looking to take action. And that can be hard, especially if you’re living hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away from the area.

Instacart just gave us a new way to donate to those that have been impacted by the fires. Starting this week on the Instacart app or website, you can now directly donate food and goods through their LA Fire Relief community cart hub. It’s now easy to buy groceries and other items and send them to LA-based organizations in need.

These are the organizations that you can donate to right now on the app (and we linked each organization’s Instacart page below):

Items like peanut butter, jelly, soup, beans, granola bars, cereal, bottled water and baby food top the list for what these food pantries and charities are seeking most right now. Simply shop for the listed items under a charity page and ship to the autofilled location. Whatever you are able to donate during this time will be helping a family in need.

In the 48 hours since this easy donation service launched on Instacart, over 25,000 items have been donated from people across the country looking to help. It’s even received praise from Instacart users on social media.

“This is amazing! Should keep this feature going for charities across the continent year-round,” one person commented on Instacart’s post announcing the feature. We are endorsing that statement!

For those looking to help in other ways, you can also send a financial donation to the food banks above, like the Los Angeles Food Bank, on their websites. Conditions are stagnant, and it is unclear how long it will take for the fires to be contained. Any donations or aid during these uncertain times is appreciated.
