Chocolate Is Being Recalled in Canada Right Now

There’s an active recall on chocolate sold across Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. This is due to an undeclared allergen in the product.

The product affected by this recall is the Milka brand Bubbly Alpine Milk chocolate bar. The bars contain a printed UPC of “7 622210 371638” and best-by date of April 25, 2025. The Milka bars were sold at retail locations in the following provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. If you have this recalled chocolate on hand, dispose of it or return to your place of purchase for a refund.

The chocolate was investigated once a consumer reported experiencing an allergic reaction to tree nuts after eating the product. It was found that the product may contain hazelnuts, which was an undeclared allergen on the packaging, resulting in this recall. 

Those with a tree nut allergy may experience an allergic reaction as severe as anaphylaxis after eating this chocolate. Symptoms of anaphylactic shock include hives, swelling, tightness of the throat, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness and cardiac arrest.
