There’s never a wrong time for a bowl of cereal. Whether you’re fueling your day with muesli, or whipping up a loaded bowl to enjoy as you settle in for movie night, there’s a type for every occasion. While you can never go wrong with classics like Cheerios or Chex, cereal companies are constantly keeping the breakfast aisle lined with a range of exciting new options.

Recently, Kellogg’s launched donut hole-inspired cereal, and Oreo shook things up when it discontinued Oreo O’s to make room for Oreo Puffs. Last month, General Mills added nine fresh products to its lineup, including protein-loaded Cheerios and Nature Valley Dipped Granola, making our mornings sweeter than ever.

But General Mills isn’t stopping there. The Minnesota-based company is upping the ante once again by launching a new fruity twist on one of its most beloved cinnamon-sugar-coated cereals.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Strawberry Hits Stores

Whoever heads up the Cinnamon Toast Crunch department at General Mills must be working overtime. In the past year, Hormel bacon, Old El Paso taco shells, and even Chex Mix have all been sprinkled with Cinnadust—and fans aren’t complaining.

While the unique collabs are always exciting, nothing beats a bowl of the crunchy cereal itself. And CTC fans have a unique new variety to look forward to–Cinnamon Toast Crunch Strawberry. The new flavor features the brand’s bite-sized crunchy squares but now with a vibrant strawberry taste.

Food insider @Cereallife recently shared the drop on Instagram (cross-posted with two other snack accounts), and fans flooded the comments with mixed reactions. One commenter was hesitant about the new cereal, writing, “This would be a one-time thing for me.” Whereas another was instantly ready to stock up, declaring, “I’m buying 10 boxes.”

Many are excited about the fruity alternative, but some question if the flavors taste good together. “But why? Strawberry and cinnamon don’t mix well, smh [shaking my head],” asked one.

Meanwhile, others explained that they have been a fan of the combo for years. “Y’all super late. I just put strawberry syrup in my milk and pour in the cereal!! Strawberry Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk is iconic!!” exclaimed one Instagrammer who is well-versed in the pairing.

Another shared a childhood memory involving the flavor mashup. “Yasss my life is complete!! When I was growing up my Grandma would keep fresh strawberries frozen. We would microwave them and add cinnamon and sugar–it was BOMB!! Looking forward to trying this cereal,” the user reminisced.

It may seem like an uncommon match, but if you’ve ever dipped a churro into strawberry sauce or bitten into a Strawberry Cinnamon Oatmeal Muffin, it’s clear that duo does work well together.

Family-sized boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Strawberry are expected to roll out exclusively to Walmart this month. But if you don’t see it on shelves yet, consider Great Value Strawberry Shortcake Cereal. It’s already getting rave reviews and could be a great alternative until you get your hands on a box of General Mills’ version.
