USDA Announces Recall of More Than 24,000 Pounds of Frozen Foods Sold at Aldi

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of more than 24,000 pounds of a popular frozen Aldi product because it may be contaminated with a foreign material. Aldi’s frozen Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos have been recalled after metal pieces were found in the food.

Bestway Sandwiches Inc., the maker of Aldi’s frozen taquitos, issued the notice after a customer complained of finding a metal fragment in the product.

How to Identify the Recalled Aldi Taquitos

The recall lists 20-ounce packages of frozen Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos that were produced between July 3, 2024, and Sept. 25, 2024, and sold at all Aldi stores nationwide. While the product is likely not on Aldi’s shelves anymore, FSIS is concerned the taquitos may be in customers’ freezers.

To identify the recalled taquitos, look for the establishment number EST. P-40327 on the box, and the best-by dates 07/03/2025 or 09/25/25. You can find label images of the recalled product on the USDA’s site.

No other flavor of the Casa Mamita taquitos or Aldi product is affected by this recall.

What to Do if You Purchased the Affected Product

If you have the recalled frozen taquitos, you should not eat them. Instead, throw them away or return them to your Aldi store for a full refund.

The USDA has reported one dental injury caused by eating the chicken and cheese taquitos. If you have any concerns about injuries due to this recall, you should contact your healthcare provider.
