Evangelion fans can get a great deal on a collectible Blu-ray edition of Thrice Upon a Time at Amazon. Normally $37, Evangelion 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time’s Limited Edition Steelbook is discounted to $25.89. Amazon also has the 4K Collector’s Edition for $55 (was $80). The latter released in 2023, while the Limited Edition Steelbook is the most recent Evangelion physical release, as it hit store shelves last summer.
$25.89 (was $37)
Evangelion: Thrice Upon a Time’s Limited Edition Steelbook is a two-disc, standard Blu-ray release. It’s the only edition of the film that comes with a steelbook case. Like with the older non-steelbook Blu-ray edition and 4K Collector’s Edition, you’ll get English and Japanese versions of the film. The on-disc extras include promotional reels, trailers, and TV commercials.
If Amazon sells out of this deal, Walmart has the Limited Edition Steelbook for $27.11. And if you don’t care about steelbook cases, Amazon has the standard Blu-ray release for $20.47 (was $30).
$55.30 (was $80)
If you’d prefer to watch Thrice Upon a Time in 4K, Amazon has the Collector’s Edition for $55.30 (list price is $80). This three-disc box set includes a 4K Blu-ray and the pair of 1080p discs that come with the other editions. The Collector’s Edition is packaged in an oversized box containing a 28-page book, 16.5 x 11.7-inch poster, and five art cards.
Evangelion Movies & Series Box Set
Thrice Upon a Time is a terrific movie that brings the story of Shinji and his fellow Eva Unit pilots to a satisfying conclusion. You can also save on a couple of the other movies in the series on Blu-ray and DVD at Amazon. Unfortunately, the first film, You Are (Not) Alone, is very tricky to find in stock these days. Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo is also becoming scarce, with Blu-ray editions selling for above retail price. The DVD edition is available for $18, though. You can also still get Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance on Blu-ray for below retail price.
As mentioned, Amazon is currently offering a great discount on Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Complete Series on Blu-ray, which drops the price to $40 (was $60). If you haven’t watched the classic anime series recently, you may want to rewatch it before diving into the Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
If you’re a big Neon Genesis Evangelion fan, you should check out the official LP box set. It comes with two translucent blue vinyls adorned with ethereal black smoke and is housed in a colored gatefold jacket with dozens of panels of artwork.
As mentioned, some of the Rebuild of Evangelion Blu-rays are difficult to secure for reasonable prices. Thankfully, all four movies are readily available to stream on Prime Video with an Amazon Prime subscription.
Anime fans will also want to check out the upcoming steelbook release for Akira. Releasing March 4, Akira’s 4K Limited Edition Steelbook is up for preorder at Amazon and discounted to $29.49 (was $35).
