You might find yourself sneaking around in Dragon’s Dogma 2. One quest, in particular, requires you to mingle with the nobility while in disguise. Here’s our guide on how to complete the Stolen Throne masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains minor spoilers.
How to complete the Stolen Throne masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The Stolen Throne is a main quest given to you by Commander Brant in the city of Vernworth. You may need to tackle other objectives, such as The Caged Magister, before it appears as a dialogue option. Here’s a quick summary:
- Brant tells you that you need to learn more about the False Sovran, the person who’s claiming to be the Arisen.
- He tasks you with attending the masquerade ball to gather information.
- Brant gives you the Eventide Mask. However, you still need “formal raiment.”
Where to find formal raiment for the masquerade
Formal raiment simply refers to the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches. You’ll see these being sold at Philbert’s Sundries at the square, but the prices are an absolute joke (150,000 gold). You definitely don’t want to waste your money. Instead, you should obtain the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches from other sources:
- Noble Quarter: Allard’s Estate – The two rooms on the second floor.
- Noble Quarter: Comptroller’s Home – The two rooms on the second floor.
- Vernworth Castle: Regentkin Sven’s Chamber – Inside a chest.
Attending the masquerade and looking for the False Sovran
Now, it’s time to attend the masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Make sure you’re wearing the Eventide Mask (given by Brant automatically), the Courtly Tunic, and Courtly Breeches–your choice of cloak doesn’t matter at all.
Head to Vernworth Hall at nighttime. The guards should let you enter, whereupon you’ll receive the Nobles’ Night Out achievement.
Once inside, look for the False Sovran and follow him to the second floor. Pass through the fake wall at the end of the hallway, which leads you to the Rose Chateau Borderlie.
Alternate method: Gain help from Wilhelmina
There’s also another method to complete the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Stolen Throne quest, which is actually what we experienced in our campaign:
- We did not have the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches. However, when we made our way to the palace grounds at night, we were approached by Wilhelmina.
- There’s a short cutscene where the Arisen and Wilhelmina kissed to prevent the guard from asking too many questions.
- Wilhelmina then gave us a card that granted access to the Rose Chateau Borderlie.
- Upon entering her chambers on the second floor, guards arrived but she managed to distract them.
- Wilhelmina told us to look through the peephole, which led to a cutscene that the False Sovran was just a puppet.
In any case, these are the ways you can complete the Stolen Throne masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you’re keen on learning more about the false Sovran’s identity, then you might want to head to the Nameless Village. It’s also possible to do another quest that lets you romance Wilhelmina.
