Guy Fieri Launched a Nonstick, Non-Toxic Cookware Line

Estimated read time 4 min read

While nonstick pots and pans have been making the news for leaching chemicals into our food and environment, there’s no denying the convenience of cookware that can easily release a fried egg or delicate crepe. Of course, cast iron and stainless steel cookware can be virtually nonstick with the right cooking methods, but for those who want the benefits of nonstick without the learning curve, Guy Fieri’s latest non-toxic titanium cookware line offers a happy medium.

We spoke to Fieri about the new Flavortown collection, which has a clever titanium cooking surface free of toxic chemicals — and yet, it’s still slick and can be used with metal cooking tools. Speaking on the line’s versatility, he shares, “We can boil it in it, we can fry it in it, we can put it in the oven, we can put it in the dishwasher, and we can use any utensil we have.” To us, this sounds like just the solution for those looking to ditch their Teflon pans.

Fieri’s own Sunday family meals have benefited from the flexibility of his cookware line. Though he’s a lover of cast iron cookware, he knows “not everybody wants to lug cast iron” around the kitchen. Made of hard anodized aluminum and finished with a titanium surface, this 12-piece lightweight set comes with 8-, 10-, and 12-inch frying pans, a 2-quart saucepan, a 4-quart saucepan, a 5-quart sauté pan, an 8-quart stock pot, and a 6-quart Dutch oven.

Fieri’s favorite piece from the line, the 5-quart sauté pan, has enough capacity to cook for the whole family. “I use it probably more than I should,” he admits. The titanium surface can endure high temperatures to sear and char foods without releasing chemicals. It works great for one of his family’s most-requested dishes, Chicken Big Mamou, which requires blackening chicken pieces on high heat before simmering it in a flavorful sauce.

If you’re just looking to replace a couple of skillets, this 2-piece set includes the 8- and 10-inch frying pans. The hard anodized aluminum pans are durable, with handles that Fieri ensured were “ergonomically set” for a comfortable grip. Plus, these are great for those who “love to stick things in the oven or in the dishwasher,” says Fierie, since these pans can do both. Along with the rest of the line, these skillets are oven-safe up to 700°F, ideal for cooking a cut of steak and finishing it off under the oven broiler.

The 2-quart saucepan is great for a small batch of butterscotch sauce, rice, or soup. It comes with a glass lid to help track the progress of your cooking foods and has the same titanium surface that releases foods without any sticking.

For big family soup nights, the 8-quart stockpot makes it possible to build flavor under its tight-fitting lid. It also has comfortable upturned handles for secure maneuvering and extra tall sides that promote easy stirring, especially when it comes to covering every bit of pasta in sauce.

At the end of the day, Fieri’s simply excited to “give people a chance to cook at a very high level and have a much higher success rate,” without “worrying about using metal utensils or the pan wearing out,” eventually chipping away at its chemical coating.
