The FDA Just Issued a Massive Recall on MadeGood Granola Bars Sold Nationwide

Estimated read time 3 min read

If you’ve recently purchased any granola bars, then it’s time to check your pantry.

On December 9, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a voluntary recall with Riverside Natural Foods Inc. for batches of MadeGood granola bars due to the “potential presence of a piece of metal in the product, which, if consumed, may result in a safety hazard.”

The company stated in the recall that “the health and safety of our consumers is our highest priority. This recall is being initiated as a precautionary measure; no injuries have been reported.”

The products, the recall stated, include the following MadeGood products: Chocolate Chip Granola Bars, Mixed Berry Granola Bars, Strawberry Granola Bars, Cookies & Crème Granola Bars, Chocolate Banana Granola Bars, Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake Granola Bars, Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble Granola Bars, and Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla Granola Bars.

The bars were produced between January and November 2024 and distributed to stores across the U.S., Canada, and international markets. The bars’ product UPCs and best-by dates vary but can be found on madegoodfoods.com. The best-by dates range from 2025 to 2026, so if you purchased any of the bars recently, odds are they are still good and may fall under this recall.

“There is a very small risk that some of our granola bar products made between January and November 2024 may contain a piece of metal,” the company added in a statement published on its website. “We have addressed the source of the issue and are conducting the voluntary recall with the knowledge of regulatory authorities.” It reiterated that there have been no reports of injury but that it initiated “this recall out of an abundance of caution and commitment to the well-being of our valued customers.”

Anyone who has purchased the product is asked to check it against the list of recalled items. If they have purchased one, the customer should return the product to their point of purchase for a full refund.

Anyone with questions can contact the MadeGood Consumer Hotline at 855-215-5695 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.
