DJI has the ultimate power accessory for drone pilots needing even more flight time

DJI is a name synonymous with drones and action cameras, but this year the company launched its first set of power stations — the DJI Power 500 and Power 1000. These power stations were the first to be aimed specifically at drone pilots, offering them a way to charge their drone’s batteries much faster than using conventional means.

Now the company is bolstering that lineup with an expansion battery aimed at people who need even more power.

The DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 is a 2kWh expansion battery for the Power 1000 power station, tripling the off-grid power capacity.

The Power Expansion Battery 2000 offers a variety of flexible expansion methods, high-power charging and discharging, and easy stacking and storage design. According to the spec sheet, the battery can output 2,400W continuously and a peak output of 2,600W for 60 seconds, making it capable of powering most household appliances.

Charging the unit is no problem either, as it uses the SDC ports and, when paired with a Power 1000 unit, the battery can charge from flat to 50% in 46 minutes. 

If one Power Expansion Battery 2000 isn’t enough, you can combine up to five expansion batteries for a total power capacity of 11,264 Wh.

This unit is also designed to be used outdoors, and the internal components feature a sub-nano protective coating technology that allows it to operate safely for brief periods in conditions such as rain, condensation, and salt fog.

The DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 is available now from DJI for $899. While there are power stations better suited to regular users, if you regularly go off-grid to fly drones, this unit is worth considering.
