Pasta lovers know a good pasta shape is important. What would Alfredo sauce be without the ribbon-y fettuccine to sop it all up? And you certainly can’t stuff other pasta like you would with pasta shells. Countless unique pasta types complement specific recipes, and for purists, this means some recipes don’t feel “right” unless cooked with the appropriate pasta shape.
So it’s not surprising that when the popular pasta brand Ronzoni announced last year that it was discontinuing a fan-favorite pasta shape, fans everywhere were devastated. Now, we’re here to tell you Ronzoni is bringing it back—just in time for the cozy season.
The Return of Ronzoni Pastina
Pastina has been a tried and true staple ingredient for so many comfort food recipes. When Ronzoni took its beloved Pastina off shelves in 2023, fans mourned the loss of their go-to pasta shape for soups, stews, risotto, and so much more.
For those unfamiliar with pastina, it’s a mini pasta that’s often cooked like rice given its size. However, contrary to how Ronzoni has marketed it, it’s not just one particular shape. Pastina could be anything from round to star-shaped, but the mini stars are surely one of its most popular forms here in the United States.
Instagram’s @markie_devo posted about the release, adding “I’m not sure if it was backlash from the fans or just out of the kindness of their heart, but Pastina is back.”
One commenter regarded this comeback as perfect because it’s “just in time for soup season” while another announced that they “stocked up with 10 boxes already.” Someone else was so excited that they called Pastina’s comeback with Ronzoni “a true Christmas miracle.”
Ronzoni’s Pastina is now available at retailers nationwide, and hopefully, it will stay that way from now on.
