My mom is an expert home cook, and not to be stereotypical, but as a Southern woman, she’s the queen of frying things. Whether it’s chicken, fish, or French fries, she knows how to use a skillet to get that gorgeous golden brown exterior and a delicious, perfectly cooked interior. But since she tested a Walmart air fryer a few weeks ago, she has yet to pick her skillet back up.
My mom tried the Beautiful 6-Quart Air Fryer from Drew Barrymore’s exclusive Walmart line, and according to her, it’s changed the cooking game for her because frying has downsides. It takes time, is messy to clean up, and isn’t exactly simple for novice home chefs. According to her, the air fryer eliminates all those drawbacks while still providing the perfect fry, and the appliance is on sale for Cyber Monday.

Since her fried chicken is famous, my mom’s first foray into using the air fryer was, of course, chicken. Unlike her usual skillet-fried version where she soaks the meat in buttermilk before dredging in flour, she coated the chicken in an egg wash and dredged it in panko crumbs before placing it in the air fryer. She “fried” it for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, and the chicken was finished in a fraction of the time as her usual frying. Plus, it had the same golden brown crust and juicy interior.
The quickness is one of the things that impressed her most. Traditional panfrying takes time. You’ve got to warm up the oil and cook low and slow to ensure you don’t overheat it or, well, start a grease fire or burn something. The air fryer, however, requires none of the prep work and cooks food in half the time, letting her get dinner on the table quickly.
When it comes to cleaning, the machine is also much easier. When she fries in the skillet, there are grease splatters everywhere in addition to dishes, and she has to wait for the oil to cool before saving it in a container for later. None of that happens with the air fryer. To clean up, she pulls out the basket, washes it with dish soap and warm water, lets it dry, and she’s done.
My mom also wouldn’t call herself the most tech-savvy person on the planet, and she was impressed by how simple the appliance was to use. The touch screen has easy-to-read presets like air frying, roasting, and dehydration, and adjusting the temperature and time is as simple as pressing a button. In fact, she said it was so easy that it’s basically “an air fryer for dummies.” She’s not the only one who thinks so. The appliance has over 8,300 five-star ratings, and its user-friendly design is one of the features reviewers mention most. One person who has had three previous air fryers said it’s the easiest to use.
If you love fried food but hate the time it takes to cook and the laborious cleanup process, the Beautiful 6-Quart Air Fryer might be your new go-to, just like it’s my mom’s. Plus, during Walmart Cyber Monday, it’s on sale for just $59. Keep scrolling to see even more deals from Drew Barrymore’s collection during Walmart’s sale.
