The ultimate duo of kitchen gadgets for the citrus-obsessed just dropped by 30% for Black Friday. I’m talking about the mighty Fluicer and speedy Ozest zester, which are down to $21 for the pair, plus a further 10% or $2 off when you clip the on-page coupon, at Amazon for Black Friday.
What’s the big fuss? I saw the Fluicer at a trade show earlier this year, and in that moment, all the painful memories of trying to juice limes and lemons with a hopeless clamshell juicer came flooding back. The Fluicer works far more efficiently, by bending the lemon or lime in half as it squeezes, effectively pulverizing the fruit and getting at least 25% more juice out.
The Fluicer comes in three sizes meant to squeeze, limes, lemons or oranges. I find the medium (yellow) to be the most versatile. It easily juices limes, lemons and most orange slices without eating up too much space in your drawer. Needless to say, I’m getting one for everyone on my holiday list at this price, and you should, too.
See my full review of the Fluicer here. Don’t be tempted by cheap knockoffs and lookalikes. A friend bought a dupe version, trying to save a few bucks, and it broke within weeks. I’ve been using my sanctioned Fluicer for about a year now. While it hasn’t broken, I find that hard limes strain its hinges and recommend using it only on oranges, lemons and juicy limes.
Not to be outdone, the Ozest zester has some powerful innovation of its own, namely a spring-loaded mechanism that snaps all the zested citrus or finely grated cheese from the blade and into your recipe. No more scraping a sharp zester with your fingers to corral that valuable flavor enhancer or snowfall of Parmesan.
