There is no denying the holidays are upon us. By this time next week, we’ll have enjoyed our Thanksgiving feasts and will be deciding how to deliciously use up the leftovers. Gift shopping will begin in earnest, and our family movie and snack nights will turn holiday-themed.
As we’re out and about doing our holiday-ing, stopping and enjoying a treat or two is imperative. It’s well deserved, don’t you think? Hot cocoa is always the first thing that comes to mind as a wonderful treat, so in that spirit, Dairy Queen is subverting expectations in the hot cocoa universe by turning it into a frozen treat (perhaps taking a page from a famous New York City institution?). But it didn’t just stop at one.
Starting Nov. 25, Dairy Queen fans will be treated to two cocoa concoctions: a DQ Frozen Hot Chocolate and a Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard Treat. Because it’s pretty much the law in December to pair chocolate and peppermint.
Dairy Queen’s December Blizzard of the Month—Peppermint Hot Cocoa
Before we got official confirmation, Instagram’s Markie Devo dropped the news about the returning Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard, telling his followers it’s time for Team MINTER to “squad up” and grab the December flavor of the month “made with creamy cocoa fudge, crunchy peppermint candy cane pieces, and rich chocolate chunks, topped with whipped cream.”
“AHHHHHHHH I will be there [the] first day,” one of his followers squealed, and another exclaimed, “Yay!! Bring on all the peppermint!” The news was received very well by many commenting on the thick treat’s return, though there were a few looking for flavors of Christmas past, such as Snickerdoodle or Eggnog.
DQ’s Fan-Favorite Frozen Hot Chocolate Is Back
While there’s no sign yet of those flavors returning this year, the Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard Treat will be joined by another winter favorite, the DQ Frozen Hot Chocolate. It features rich cocoa fudge blended with vanilla soft serve and signature Misty Slush, blended all together. It’s topped with a whipped topping and a chocolatey drizzle.
Both frozen holiday treat flavors are available for a limited time—knocking November’s Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie Blizzard off the menu—at participating U.S. locations nationwide.
