Carrots Sold at Costco, Walmart and More Recalled

Various organic whole and baby carrot products are being recalled, according to the Food and Drug Administration. This is following an E. coli outbreak investigation connected to contaminated carrots, resulting in 39 illnesses, 15 hospitalizations and one death.

The recalled carrots were sold in popular retailers such as Costco, Kroger, Sprouts, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Wegmans, Whole Foods and more. They were sold nationwide in the U.S. as well as in Canada and Puerto Rico.

The following organic whole carrots are being recalled, all of which were purchased at retailers from August 14 through October 23:

The following organic baby carrots are being recalled, all of which have best-if-used-by dates ranging from September 11 through November 12:

If you have any of the above carrot products in your refrigerator or freezer, dispose of it immediately or return it to your place of purchase for a full refund. E. coli bacteria can cause a serious infection, including symptoms like stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever. If you believe you may be sick after consuming the impacted carrots, talk to your doctor as soon as possible.
