“In the fall of 1987, one last adventure begins.” That’s one of the many hints provided by a short teaser trailer for Stranger Things 5, the fifth and final season of Netflix’s massive sci-fi hit. The video, released to celebrate Stranger Things Day, also reveals the titles of all eight episodes of the final season and they are more than a little intriguing.
Here’s the video if you’d like to be surprised and we’ll list the titles below it.
Here are the Stranger Things season 5 episode titles:
- The Crawl
- The Vanishing of ???
- The Turnbow Trap
- Sorcerer
- Shock Jock
- Escape from Camazotz
- The Bridge
- The Rightside Up
A few things to note right away here. The first is two of the episode titles, “The Vanishing of ???” and “The Rightside Up,” are winks to season one. The first episode of the show was called “The Vanishing of Will Byers,” the inciting event for the entire series, and the season one finale was “The Upside Down.” So you can see the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, are attempting to circle things back to the beginning.
There’s also that question of who, specifically, is vanishing this season. The teaser video deems that revelation too spoilery to drop this soon—but it’s intriguing nevertheless.
As for the rest of the titles, your guesses are as good as ours. “Sorcerer” could be a wink to the incredible William Friedkin film about men who go on a harrowing journey transporting explosives in a truck. “Shock Jock” brings to mind the likes of potty-mouthed disc jockeys like Howard Stern, so maybe a radio DJ will be introduced who plays a role. And a “Camazotz“ is some kind of giant bat monster. That could also be a tease of the season’s big bad.
Basically, the titles give us lots of crumbs, but that’s about it. Which is frankly how we like it. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too deep into 2025 to finally, after three years, go back to Hawkins. Let us know what you think of the episode titles below.
