One of PlayStation’s 2024 console exclusives just received its best discount yet. Rise of the Ronin, the latest action-RPG from Team Ninja, is available for only $40 at Amazon and Best Buy. This $30 discount is only available until the end of the day (October 29), and considering the previous low was $50–and even that was rare–we wouldn’t be surprised if it sold out before then.
The Rise of the Ronin deal is joined by a rare discount on another PS5 exclusive released this year: Stellar Blade. You can snag Stellar Blade for $50 (was $70) today at Best Buy. This deal could sell out as well; in fact, it’s already sold out at Amazon.
Rise of the Ronin is a fast-paced action game set during a pivotal moment in Japanese history. As an outside agent, you’ll run into real-life historical figures, occasionally battle them, and help influence Japan as it enters a new era. Like other Team Ninja games, Rise of the Ronin has Souls-like combat, but it’s surprisingly approachable and rewarding when you master the way of the blade and several other weapons.
“It’s not without some flaws, but I finished Rise of the Ronin with much more left to do, and even after 50 hours, I want to head back in to see what I’d missed and attempt to change history,” Phil Hornshaw wrote in GameSpot’s Rise of the Ronin review. “The parts of the game that work more than balance out its weaker elements. And while it took a while to find the rhythm of Rise of the Ronin’s combat, its speed, complexity, and intensity make for some phenomenal fights that always feel great to win. Rise of the Ronin is a game that might take a bit to get good, but the commitment is worth it.”
Meanwhile, Stellar Blade is a character-action game will appeal to fans of Devil May Cry, Nier Automata, and Bayonetta; it earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s review. “Stellar Blade’s influences come from the last two generations of character action games and it wields them proudly, channeling not just ideas but themes, designs, and even stylistic flourishes from games like Bayonetta and Nier Automata,” critic Imran Khan wrote.
