McDonald’s Is Bringing Back the Sandwich It Just Can’t Quit

Al Roker may be best known as a meteorologist and journalist, but he also knows his way around the kitchen. Just two weeks ago, he published the cookbook “Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By.” He also often shows off his culinary skills on social media even when it’s something as simple as making a 4-ingredient tomato sandwich with anchovies.

And, like most of us, he likes to frequent fast food restaurants every once in a while. When our News Editor Bailey Fink asked Al what his favorite McDonald’s order was, he had an immediate answer: the McRib.

When McDonald’s president Joe Erlinger visited the “Today” show over the summer for an interview about the restaurant’s value meal, Al couldn’t help but ask him if his favorite fast food sandwich would be returning this year. “What about the McRib?” Al asked from across the set. “It’s coming later this year,” Erlinger said but gave no other details. That was three months ago.

The McRib Is Likely Returning This Year

The McRib has always carried a mysterious reputation, with rumors often swirling about whether it’ll show up on McDonald’s menus. In 2022, McDonald’s kicked off a Farewell Tour for the item, only to bring it back for a limited run the following year.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, a McDonald’s spokesperson has confirmed the McRib will be in “the ‘greater Ozarks area’ on Wednesday, Nov. 27.” The sandwich also recently returned to McDonald’s in the U.K.

Between Erlinger confirming it will return later this year and a spokesperson confirming it will be in Missouri in late November, our guess is that the rest of the country will see it sometime around then, too.

If you can’t wait that long for the return of the McRib, you don’t have to. You can make our copycat McRib, which is made with real pork rib meat and is, in our opinion, even tastier.
