Material Kitchen’s The Table Knives Were Just Restocked

As a recipe developer, I own almost every kitchen tool you can think of. I have a healthy stock of appliances — including multicookers, slow cookers, and ice cream makers — pots and pans in a wide range of sizes, and more utensils than I have room for in my drawers. But there was a gaping hole in my collection that I had a particularly hard time filling: steak knives. I’m enthusiastic about cooking, but less so about cleaning, so I like tools that work well and wash easily. These knives excel at both. Out of the 23 styles we tested in the Food & Wine lab, editors dubbed Material’s the “Best Modern” models thanks to their “extremely sharp” German steel blades, dishwasher-safe construction, and wooden blocks that can be positioned vertically or horizontally for “neat, versatile storage and convenient protection.” Their only complaint? The fact that the knives are so sharp, they had to take extra care when washing them by hand. (Conveniently, this is a non-issue since they can and should be rinsed in a dishwasher.)

One shopper called them a “terrific value,” while a second added that they “cut through everything like butter.” The positive comments continued when a third dubbed them “extremely sharp and functional” and a fourth stated that they “instantly” bought a second set after receiving their first.
