Oreo Is Launching a First-Of-Its-Kind Holiday Cookie in 5 New Varieties

Keeping up with the world of Oreo this year has truly been a wild ride. First, there was the churro cookie, followed by the launch of the lightsaber-inspired ode to Star Wars, and then a Sour Patch Kids collab nobody expected. And one thing is for sure—we definitely didn’t have Coca-Cola-flavored Oreos on our 2024 bingo card.

But, Oreo isn’t out of surprises for the year just yet. While we assumed the brand would have something festive in store for us—after all, big cookie competitors like Chips Ahoy! and Pepperidge Farm have already unveiled their holiday treats—Oreo just announced it’s going bigger and bolder than ever with a Christmas cookie that reaches new holiday heights.

Oreo Launches New Festive Cookies

If you’re a lover of all things Oreo cookies and Christmas, then Santa has delivered your treat a bit early this year. Oreo’s limited-edition holiday cookie comes with not one, but three brand-new features to create what fans have called “the best holiday design ever.”

First up, the creme filling. Instead of a red or green filling, Oreo doubled down with a red and green filling. For the first time ever, an Oreo cookie will feature two layers of filling—red and green—sandwiched back-to-back, giving you the double-stuffed experience in a new, colorful format. 

In addition to the double-decker filling, the Oreo Festive Cookie collection also introduces five holiday-inspired designs embossed on the chocolate wafers, each one cuter than the last. Your cookie characters include: a Candy Cane, Gingerbread Man, Penguin, Snowman, and Rudolph—good luck choosing a favorite.

And if that wasn’t enough holiday spirit for your snack time, each Christmas-themed cookie features a clever cut-out where the red icing peaks through. Whether it’s Rudolph’s shiny nose, the penguin’s vibrant bowtie, or the gingerbread man’s heart, each pop of red adds an adorable feature to the overall design.

As soon as these holiday cookies hit the internet last week, fans fell head over heels. Comments flooded in like “Absolutely NEEEEED these” and “Is this real life?” The “little boop button” on the designs has been an especially big hit, adding a whole new level of charm to the classic cookies.

Sure, some fans were hoping the holiday look came with a holiday flavor, too, commenting, “If only they were peppermint.” but we think that’s just about all the bells and whistles one sandwich cookie can handle.

Besides, there’s one more feature that makes these cookies unique, and that’s the packaging. The double-stuffed treats are available in three packaging options: in four-count laydown bags, 45-count stand-up bags, and four-count king-size packs. No matter the size, each cookie will be individually wrapped in single packets, making them perfect for stuffing in stockings, tossing in lunch boxes, or sneaking into your holiday treat stash.

Some lucky shoppers have already spotted the cookies on shelves, but they’ll officially roll out on Nov. 1 exclusively in Target and Walmart stores, and will be available while supplies last. So, if you’re a fan of Oreo’s limited-edition releases, don’t wait too long to get your hands on these seasonal sweets.

After this, Oreo might just kick back for the rest of the year—but then again, who knows? The brand always seems to have a few more surprises up its cookie sleeve.
