Universal Studios’ Epic New Theme Park Finally Has an Opening Date

Estimated read time 3 min read

After years of excitement and anticipation, we finally know when Universal Studios will open its fourth Orlando theme park, Epic Universe. The company just announced that the park will open May 22, 2025, with distinct lands themed to How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, Nintendo, Universal Monsters, and more.

That may seem like a long way away, but not if you’re a theme park fan. An opening date means it’s time to make travel plans, and Universal also announced that tickets for the park, and rooms at its new Universal Helios Grand Hotel, all go up for sale/reservation on October 22. As previously rumored though, most admission to Epic Universe in what Universal is calling its “First Phase” is only available as part of a larger ticket package that includes entrance to the other theme parks: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.

So what does that mean? Well, you can click here for all the specifics but basically, if you want to go to Epic Universe starting May 22, 2025, you’ll need to buy a multi-day ticket that’ll give you just one day at the park. Single-day tickets will be available on their own, but only to annual pass holders at the start and those sales begin October 24. As for people who may just want to pop into Epic Universe alone, “Additional ticket options for Universal Epic Universe—including single-day tickets for the general public and more—will go on sale in the months ahead.” Again, visit the official Epic Universe site for specific details on all that, as well as on the new hotel.

“This is such a pivotal moment for our destination, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, said in a press release. “With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience with a week’s worth of thrills that will be nothing short of epic! Our Universe will never be the same.”

That last phrase is key. Yes, it would be awesome to be among the first to visit Epic Universe, ride its rides, and discover its secrets. But it’s not going anywhere. It will be there from May 2025 until forever so if you want to go, but can’t fathom paying admission for three parks to visit one, just sit tight. In the months and years ahead there will be plenty of time to visit Celestial Park, the Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon‘s Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.
