Developer HoYoverse has released the patch notes for the Genshin Impact 5.1 update, called “The Rainbow Destined to Burn,” which is now available. Amidst the listed changes, one particular item warns players to expect some missing English voice-overs.
“Due to recording arrangements, some content in Version 5.1 does not have English voice-overs,” the patch notes read. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.” Via IGN, the assumption is that this is likely due to the ongoing video game voice actor strike under the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA.)

As it stands, it’s not confirmed that the missing voice-overs are directly related to the strike. Throughout the year, SAG-AFTRA approved AI voice acting for video games, while the union recently claimed that Formosa Interactive was guilty of committing “a flagrant violation of labor law” when the company allegedly tried to subvert the strike.
The Genshin Impact 5.1 update is now available. In case you’re an Xbox player who’s tired of FOMO, HoYoverse announced a port during Gamescom 2024. The game is arriving to Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass on November 20, 2024.
