The energy shot company 5-Hour Energy has announced its latest product, and it is geared towards gamers. The “Gamer Shot” lineup, as it’s called, include three new flavors, and each has a whopping 230 mg of caffeine.
These shots are being sold under the pretense that they can “help gamers stay focused and energized during their gameplay sessions.”
5-Hour Energy claims its products don’t necessarily lead to “the jitters or the crash.” Jeff Sigouin, the president of 5-Hour Energy owner Living Essentials, said creating a shot specifically for gamers “is a natural extension for us,” and indeed, many might agree that it’s surprising it hasn’t happened until now.
The three flavors are described below, as written by 5-Hour Energy:
- Pineapple Charge – a tropical pineapple flavor with a hint of spicy ginger.
- Rocket Raspberry – a sweet, juicy raspberry flavor.
- Apple Bash – a fruity blend of apple, pear and peach flavors.
The Gamer Shots are available through the 5-Hour Energy website now, with prices starting at $34 for a 12-pack of individual flavors, or the same price for a variety pack that includes 4 of each flavor for a total of 12. There are also 24-packs for about $60.
The Pineapple Charge flavor will come to grocery and convenience stores across the US this summer, but the company did not say if Rocket Raspberry and Apple Bash will be sold in stores.
According to the Mayo Clinic, up to 400 mg of caffeine per day is generally OK for people. But as with anything you put in your body, you should be smart and careful.
