Need some proof that the future of the food and beverage industry is in good hands? Just look to the fourth annual list of Food & Wine Game Changers, the people and companies who are forging a path toward a more sustainable, equitable, and delicious tomorrow.
For this year’s list, we reached out to hospitality professionals, seasoned editors, and previous Game Changers to nominate people, companies, and products that are changing the way we eat and drink for the better. We received hundreds of submissions and narrowed them down to what might be our most dynamic list yet.
There’s a neutral cooking oil made from fermented sugarcane with an incredibly low carbon footprint that chefs around the country are beginning to use in their kitchens. There’s a premium sparkling wine with zero alcohol that can be aged like Champagne. And you’ll even find the masterminds behind the restaurant industry’s favorite series. “Not since Anthony Bourdain published the exposé-memoir Kitchen Confidential has a storyteller done more to deepen our understanding of restaurant culture than Chris Storer, creator of the FX on Hulu original series The Bear, and his sister, chef and culinary producer, Courtney Storer,” says Laurie Woolever in her profile on the duo.
We feature food companies that are diversifying the grocery aisles and making items like restaurant-quality soup dumplings or gluten-free tortillas more accessible to all. Plus, there’s a trailblazing chef, a bartender, a restaurant group, a kitchen gadget, higher educators, and even a Styrofoam replacement made with shellfish exoskeletons.
Read on to meet the 2024 Food & Wine Game Changers.
