This post is part of our ‘Monthly Obsessions’ series, where we ask our writers and editors what products they’ve added to their kitchen that they now can’t imagine living without.
The Food & Wine team is constantly trying out the latest and greatest food and kitchen gear. We test hundreds of kitchen products every month, and each month, a few items stand out from the pack. When we find kitchenware, pantry items, or brand collaborations we love, we can’t wait to share our recommendations with family, friends, and readers.
Here, our writers and editors share their 10 favorite kitchen finds from July, including a tinned fish tee, Staub skillet, and Stanley cooler. Read on to shop all of our July obsessions, starting at just $14.

Stanley All Day Julienne Mini Cooler
“I’ve lost count of how many compliments I’ve gotten on this cute little cooler bag from Stanley (yes, the same Stanley behind the viral cups). It’s low-profile enough to wear as a crossbody while running errands around town and easily holds seven or eight canned beverages along with a small ice pack. I recently used it to transport a box of wine from my apartment to a park birthday party almost 45 minutes away on a 90-degree day, and was shocked at how cold it kept the contents. This is the city dweller’s cooler bag!” – Oset Babür-Winter, Senior Drinks Editor
Staub 11-Inch Deep Skillet
“I am always grateful for this skillet, but I find during the summer months, I appreciate its purpose in my kitchen even more. It’s my perfect cast iron pan, with a wide space that’s big enough to use for a range of recipes. The depth also allows me to use it for a lot of baked goods. The enamel coating is durable, and I find everything cooks incredibly well in the pan. I’ve been reaching for it every week, whether I am baking up a berry cobbler, a quick pesto skillet lasagna, a batch of blackened salmon for tacos, and so much more.” – Kristin Montemarano, Commerce Writer
Knapp Made Chainmail Scrubber
“I use this every day to clean my cast iron pans after cooking with them. The chainmail scrubber thoroughly scrubs off stubborn burnt-on food bits yet stays gentle on the seasoning. The stainless steel has never rusted after years of use and the chainmail has impressively stayed intact through all the scrubbing!” – An Uong, Commerce Writer
D.S. & Durga Jalisco Rain Candle
“I’m generally skeptical of wine and spirit-scented candles, having tried too many overly sweet, overpoweringtoo strong, or just one-dimensional ones. That said, I’ve been finding myself burning D.S. & Durga’s collaboration with LaloALO tequila daily; it fills my living room with a clean, fresh cotton sheet fragrance, and I love how the woody, wet earth notes lingers in the space. If more booze-themed candles smelled like this, I’d definitely revise my stance!” – Babür-Winter
Fruit by Cédric Grolet
“A fall guy through and through, I often spend summers biding my time until it’s cool enough to bring out the allspice and nutmeg. Lately, however, I’ve made an effort to use more berries, cherries, tomatoes, and other summertime fruit in creative ways to keep my baking passion afloat. And Cédric Grolet’s cookbook Fruit is helping me do so in the best of ways. If you can look beyond the variety of beautiful trompe l’oeil, he leaves a litany of basic mother recipes and helpful baking nuggets within the book, too. Whether you need a simple ganache recipe or tips on spray painting a lifelike pastry, he’s got it covered in this masterpiece. Besides, who wouldn’t want the stunning, lemon-yellow hardcover on their bookshelf between reads?” – Dillon Evans, Updates Writer
Nalgene Water Bottle
“In the apex of summer heat and humidity, the only way I can stay hydrated is by carrying a water bottle with me everywhere I go. This 1000-milliliter Nalgene is perfect for the job. It’s large enough that I don’t have to constantly refill it, while the wide mouth makes it easy and quick to clean.” – Karen Shimizu, Executive Editor
Lisa Says Gah x Fishwife Sardine Tee
“I always get excited when two of my favorite brands collaborate, and that was definitely the case when I learned about Fishwife’s recent Aperitivo by the Sea collection with boutique Lisa Says Gah. This sardine tee, complete with colorful tinned fish illustrations, is my favorite item from the line. It sold out in weeks, but it’s currently available for pre-order.” – Katie Brown, Commerce Writer
McSunley Water Bath Canner with Canning Tools
“It’s canning season on our farm in Vermont so this canning pot will live permanently on the stove for the next month. Canned tomato sauce, strawberry jam, raspberry jam, peach cardamom jam, bread and butter pickles, and dilly beans are just a few of the jars in constant rotation coming out of this well-loved pot. And don’t forget the canning tools, they’re just as important!” – Breana Killeen, Senior Food Editor
Viski Crystal Tiki Glasses
“My household is going through a major rum phase this summer, so we acquired these glasses to enhance the vibe. I love how heavy and durable these feel in the hand. For cocktails, we’ve spent a lot of time with Martin Cate’s phenomenal ‘Smuggler’s Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum, and the Cult of Tiki,’ which I highly recommend. My favorite drink we’ve made so far is the Chartreuse Swizzle.” – Adam Rothbarth, Commerce Writer
Charles Viancin Lilypad Silicone Lid
“There’s nothing worse than needing to clean up microwave splatter after heating up your food. These silicone lids eliminate that need, keeping any splatter contained in your bowl or cup (and speeding up the heating process). You can also use them in the place of Saran wrap to keep partially-eaten food fresher in the fridge. Plus, the lilypad design is just so cute!” – Phoebe Sklansky, Senior Commerce Editor
